New May 2022
The original Brekke mandolin bridge has been updated with several new changes
and improvements. The changes were made to accomadate a growing European
market and to reduce the number of inventory parts for dealers and resellers.
The most important changes to the design are:
There are now three carved-top mandolin base sizes: Tall, Low and Ultra-low.
The new adjustment screws are 3 mm stainless set screws with 3 mm brass inserts.
(replaced the rather odd 5-40 custom inserts that were used).
The adjustment wrench is 1.5 mm and gold colored.
A small indentation has been added to the base, between the slots, to identify the
new bases that use 3 mm screws.
The bottom arch is full-contact rather than a two-foot design (based on the belief
that anyone who can fit a bridge can make a full-contact bridge into a two-foot bridge,
if desired).
All carved-top bridges will be shipped with radius saddles (again, because it is relatively easy to make a radius saddle flat and harder to make a flat saddle radiused).
A complete bridge package will contain: an ebony base, wedges, short and tall intonated saddles, and a 3 mm adjustment wrench.
Ultra-Low Carved-top bridge
Adjustable Flat-Top Mandolin Bridge
As far as I know, this is the only adjustable bridge that can go low enough to work on
a Flat-top instrument. The adjustment range is not large, but it is significant.
There are custom versions of this bridge for: mandola, octave and
bouzouki instruments. Please contact bridgerproducts@gmail.com for
information about custom bridges.
Ordering a Bridge
In general, we try to support your local brick and mortar music stores and luthiers.
Instrument bridges, in particular, require proper installation to achieve their best
performance. A good instrument set-up, done by an experienced professional, is
always recommended. Please check for a dealer in your area.
If there is not a dealer in your area but you have someone that you trust to work on
your instrument, we are willing to work with them to get the correct bridge for your
instrument. Either ask them to contact us or email us thier contact information
at bridgerproducts@gmail.com and we will contact them for you.
You may also order a bridge directly if you feel comfortable doing your own bridge
installation. Please email us with the information listed below and we will
help you get the proper bridge.
To order a bridge directly from Bridger Products:
1) Measure the height of your existing bridge at the height you prefer:
(from the top of your instrument to the top of the saddle)
2) Email the information to: bridgerproducts@gmail.com
