To install the Brekke Buckle:  Pull the rope halter ends through the halter loop, as if it was on a horse, then insert the halter ends through the buckle and the washer and slide them to the loop.  Stick the rope ends back/down through the buckle and tighten - a final tighten of one rope at a time may be easier.

To Adjust the buckle:

Flip the washer up to loosen the halter rope.

Adjust the Halter to the Horse

Use the washer to loosen/pull the rope out of the buckle.  Slide the buckle to the position that you want.  Pull the rope end to secure the buckle in that position on the rope - pulling one rope at a time may be easier for a final tighten of the rope.

Flip the washer down.  The washer works as a cam to lock the Buckle onto the rope halter in the set position.

The top of the washer should cover the top of the halter loop.

If the halter and Brekke Buckle is used on the same horse or the same size horse, the buckle will not need to be adjusted each time the halter is installed.  It can just slide in and out of the Halter loop each time to attach or remove the halter.

The Brekke Buckle is the most efficient

and easy to use when installed on a halter

used with a single horse.

It is adjustable but if the same halter is

used on multiple horses, of different sizes,

it may be quicker to just tie the knot.

Additional Disclaimer:

After extensive interviews, it has been

found that some riders want a halter

to release if thier horse totally freaks out.

Other riders want a halter that will never

release.  Given those opposing views,

the Brekke Buckle is only recommended

for use when a human is holding the lead

line (attached to the halter) that is used

to control the horse.  It is not recommended

for use if the lead line will be attached to a

post, structure or vehicle.   In that case, the

standard knot should used (the standard

knot can be tied with the buckle attached).
